COVID-19 Guides is a series of educational animations created for Johns Hopkins University, designed to teach essential safety practices during the pandemic. The videos show how to use equipment and perform key procedures in a clear and accessible way.

  • The goal was to create a series of animated guides to support COVID-19 safety education at Johns Hopkins University and Medicine. The challenge lay in translating technical and procedural information into visuals that were not only clear and accurate, but also engaging and easy to understand for a broad audience—all within a tight one-month timeline.

  • I began by reviewing the three instructional scripts provided by the producer and video editor. From there, I explored different visual directions, experimenting with styles for characters, objects, and environments. After rounds of iteration, we landed on a minimal, clean aesthetic that supported clarity without distraction. Frequent check-ins with the client through styleframes and storyboards helped shape the direction before full animation began.

  • I was responsible for the entire visual development and animation process. This included initial research, concept development, creating styleframes and storyboards, and producing the final 2D animations. I collaborated closely with the producer and editor to ensure the visuals aligned seamlessly with the scripts and overall goals of the project.

  • The process began with deep research into the content of the scripts—understanding both the procedures being explained and the best way to visualize them. I explored a variety of illustration and animation styles before narrowing in on a minimal, instructional look that emphasized clarity. Regular feedback loops with the client, including detailed styleframes and storyboards, allowed for a smooth and collaborative development process.
